Dubai NYE Alert: Road Closures, Metro Updates & Free Parking

Road Closures

We hope you are also excited about New Year’s Eve. However, getting stuck in traffic and not knowing the metro timings can ruin your night. Thankfully, you follow Arabwheels blogs, so today, we’ll be discussing road closures and extended Metro timings.

Dubai has unveiled a detailed action plan for New Year’s Eve 2025. The plan focuses on safety and smooth celebrations, with road closures and extended Metro operations. It also includes thousands of emergency personnel ready to ensure the festivities run smoothly.

Burj Khalifa Fireworks

Key routes in Downtown Dubai, the hub for iconic fireworks, will be closed hours before midnight to manage the crowds. Over 8,500 police officers, 1,100 firefighters, and nearly 600 first responders will be stationed across 36 locations. You can safely enjoy 44 fireworks displays and live shows at JBR, Global Village, and Atlantis, The Palm.

Road Closures

Hussain Al Banna, executive director of RTA, announced that all roads leading to Burj Khalifa will close on December 31. Closures for roads like Al Asayel, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and Mustaqbal Street will begin at 4 p.m. Sections of Sheikh Zayed Road will also gradually close by 11 p.m.

Metro Timings

The Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station will close at 5 p.m. or earlier if capacity limits are reached. Stations on the Red and Green lines will operate continuously for 43 hours from 5 a.m. on December 31 to 11:59 p.m. on January 1. Additional buses and 29,600 taxis will be deployed to meet high demand. The S’hail app will provide real-time updates for public transport users.

Free Parking

Dubai’s RTA has announced that parking fees will be waived across all public parking areas on January 1, 2025. This decision provides relief for residents and visitors planning to attend celebrations or explore the city during the public holiday.

However, the waiver does not apply to multi-story parking facilities, where standard charges will remain in effect. Regular parking tariffs will be reinstated citywide starting from January 2, ensuring a return to normal operations following the break.

Enhanced Safety Measures

Authorities are implementing the most comprehensive safety plan to date. The plan includes 1,145 police patrols, 1,097 firefighters, and nearly 600 first responders stationed across event areas. Additional measures include 224 ambulance points, 33 rescue boats, and 257 pre-event safety inspections.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration. Dubai’s coordinated efforts aim to make New Year’s Eve 2025 a memorable and secure event for residents and visitors alike.
