Is This a Car Brand? – People Ask After Jaguar Changes Logo

Jaguar just announced their new logo. Accompanied by a significant shift from making sporty, luxurious, yet somewhat affordable cars to high-end luxury EVs. Is this the right move? Or is it the way it was presented to the public? Read till the end to find out.

Jaguar Cars Limited

A name synonymous with elegance and power. It has a rich history dating back to 1922. Initially, it was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company. It transitioned to producing car bodies before launching its first car under the “Jaguar” name in 1935.

Iconic models like the XK120 and the legendary E-Type solidified Jaguar’s reputation for stunning design and exhilarating performance. While facing challenges in the late 20th century, Jaguar underwent a resurgence under Ford and later Tata Motors ownership.

Is this a Skincare Company Now?

The new logo looks like a cosmetic company’s. Netizens didn’t like it, nor did they want the company to shift to all EVs. Enthusiasts are heartbroken that an elegant British sports car manufacturer has turned its back on gasoline engines for good.

It is essential to mention that Jaguar holds a rich, strong, and prestigious history. At the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, Enzo Ferrari allegedly declared the Jaguar E-Type the most beautiful car ever. That is about the best compliment you can get from a legendary person.

From That to This!?

This was Jaguar’s first-ever logo, which was introduced in 1982.

This is what it has become now:

This is Jaguar’s current logo. The design language is modern. The first and last letters of the “Jaguar” have a very circular design. “Copy nothing” is the slogan they are going for. Jaguar is trying to reflect their broad thinking and innovation through their logo.

The introductory video that they posted on their Instagram page and YouTube channel is quite weird. It introduces them as a car maker that is switching from traditional gasoline-powered cars to sustainable electric vehicles, yet there’s not even a single car in the video.

The only thing you’ll be able to see is a group of people celebrating their independence and freedom. It doesn’t make any sense, right? How can I educate my audience about the fact that I’m selling Cheeseburgers if I advertise my workforce instead of promoting the Cheeseburger itself?

Elon’s Reaction is Pretty Relatable

In a tweet, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk responded to Jaguar’s new logo by saying, “Do you sell cars?” This was a sarcastic remark. After watching the video, everyone was shocked because neither the logo nor the video reflected that the brand manufactured cars.
