New EV Charging Stations in Dubai’s Residential Areas

EV charging stations

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has teamed up with Parkin to introduce new EV charging stations by early 2025. These stations will be thoughtfully placed in high-density residential areas, making electric vehicle charging easier and more convenient than ever.

The new EV Green Chargers will feature a robust 22-kilowatt capacity per port. They will be conveniently installed in prime parking spots managed by Parkin, with each station serving two parking spaces. This means more EV owners will have reliable access to charging options!

Charging Stations in Zones A and C

New charging points will be installed in on-street parking locations in zones A and C. These spots were chosen because of their vibrant residential density, where many EV owners sometimes face difficulties finding charging availability.

Seamless Payment via Parkin’s App

Customers will be able to pay for EV charging and parking fees through one simple transaction using Parkin’s app. The app’s integrated digital wallet will streamline the payment process, ensuring that EV charging is hassle-free for Dubai residents!

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, shared that this initiative aligns with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Social Agenda 33. These efforts aim to reduce carbon emissions from transportation while enhancing the quality of life in Dubai.

“Our partnership with Parkin significantly enhances Dubai’s EV charging infrastructure, providing advanced facilities equipped with innovative technology,” said Al Tayer. “These initiatives support the UAE’s climate goals while solidifying Dubai’s status as a global leader in sustainable mobility.”

Expanding Dubai’s EV Charging Network

Parkin CEO Eng. Mohamed Al Ali emphasized the company’s vital role in expanding Dubai’s EV infrastructure. He mentioned that integrating EV charging stations into Parkin’s network will boost operational efficiency and inspire residents to transition to EVs.

Currently, DEWA operates around 740 EV charging points across Dubai. It plans to expand this network to 1,000 charging stations by the end of this year, further strengthening the city’s EV ecosystem.

Conclusion

Dubai’s latest initiative to install new EV charging stations in residential areas will boost EV adoption. With seamless payment options and expanded charging access, this effort not only supports green transportation goals but also enhances our beloved city’s sustainability efforts.
