Sheikh Zayed Road to be Transformed into a Race Track

Cyclist at Sheikh Zayed Road

This Sunday, November 24, Sheikh Zayed Road will transform into a racetrack for the Dubai Run. Thousands of cyclists, both amateur and professional, will take part in the exciting event, marking the grand finale of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.

Run Past Dubai’s Most Iconic Landmarks

Cyclists will have two routes to choose from: a 5km and a 10km. The race will pass through landmarks like the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Opera, and the Museum of the Future. The 5 km race will start at 8 a.m., while the 10 km race will begin at 7:30 a.m. The first participants will start at 4 a.m., and the last runners will finish by 10 a.m.

Early Morning Roadblock

This is not the first time Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed this month. On November 10, the road was also closed for the Dubai Ride event. During both events, the closures, which mostly take place in the early morning, aim to reduce disruptions.

No Car? No Problem!

While the road is closed to cars, the Dubai Metro will remain operational, offering a convenient alternative. Public transport will help residents and visitors avoid the inconvenience of road closures. The RTA has planned the closures carefully to ensure minimal impact on regular traffic.

The Dubai Run will offer a unique opportunity to cycle on one of the busiest roads in the city. Participants will experience a completely different perspective of Dubai’s skyline and landmarks. It’s a once-a-year event, making it a special occasion for fitness enthusiasts.

Dubai Ride 2021

For those who prefer a more extended challenge, the 10 km route will cross the Dubai Canal Bridge and loop around Sheikh Zayed Road, finishing near DIFC Gate. Meanwhile, the 5 km race ends near the Dubai Mall, offering runners a spectacular view of the city.

Dubai Ride 2023

The Dubai Fitness Challenge continues to encourage a healthy lifestyle. The Dubai Ride and Dubai Run events promote health and fitness across the city. Registration for both events is still open so that you can join the movement.

Avoid the Chaos

Sheikh Zayed Road closures offer a rare chance to experience the city’s iconic highway without the usual traffic. If you’re planning to be in Dubai this weekend, be sure to plan your route accordingly.
