Smart Paid Parking Service Goes Live in Sharjah

Smart Paid Parking

Smart paid parking services have officially launched in Sharjah City, as announced by the emirate’s municipality on Sunday. 392 parking spaces across two smart parking zones opened in Al Khan and Al Nad.

Upon entering through the specified entrance, the system automatically detects vehicle number plates. When exiting, smart cameras reread the plates. The system calculates the parking duration and notifies the owner of the applicable fees.

Smart and Efficient Parking

Motorists can pay for parking through the Mawqef application using an e-wallet or a credit card. In addition to hourly payments, parking can be reserved for periods ranging from one day to a year, and motorists can also choose weekly or monthly payments.  This smart paid parking system aims to revolutionize and streamline the parking structure in the Emirates.

On the other hand, Dubai’s RTA launched the mParking service in July 2024. This e-service allows residents and visitors to pay for parking by sending a text in a set format to 7275 (PARK). This service can be used in all four zones across Dubai without searching for parking meters, coins, or tickets, so the parking fee will be paid efficiently.

Additionally, you can extend your parking period or cancel your spot by SMS using your mobile phone. However, you must register your car with Dubai’s RTA Parking SMS service to use the services for paid parking.

For registration, ensure you have a registration card and an Emirates ID. Visit the RTA website and select the SMS Parking section. Next, provide your vehicle and personal information, select the payment method, and confirm your registration by agreeing to all the terms and conditions.

Once RTA approves your application, you will receive a confirmation message.
