All-new 4th Gen Suzuki Swift 2025 vs. 3rd Gen Swift | Dinky but Logical
After making successful progress in the west and Europe, the 4th generation Suzuki Swift has finally made its way to the UAE. Al Rostmani Trading Company, the group that owns Suzuki’s franchise in UAE has brought the 5th generation international variant of Swift which is now available for booking.
Like the car, its invoice has also got a raise of up to AED 5,000, meaning the top variant will now cost up to AED 60,000 while the previous generation’s top variant used to cost AED 55,000.
For AED 5k more, let’s see what you’re getting in the new generation and what’s changed:
4th Generation vs 3rd Generation Suzuki Swift
It seems like Suzuki is following the road map of German cars, not in terms of performance and built-quality, but in the way that the new 4th generation Swift hasn’t changed much compared to it;s predecessors, just like Germans do. It has surely been tweaked a lot and has a whole new interior, but not no serious add-on, it’s just a refreshed Swift. The performance and tech wise, there’s no new tech add-on, it got the same Z series 1.2-liter engine mated with a CVT transmission. Let’s compare both generations in detail:
Exterior and Looks
The outside has been tweaked a lot. The headlights specifically have now got a black tint with inverted C-shape DRLs on the side, it looks way cooler than the previous generation’s headlights. Not just that, the bonnet has also got rounded in shape and the front grille is also all piano black. Specifically, if you look at the bonnet, it seems like Swift designers took Mini as their inspiration because only Mini uses the round bonnet designs.
The back is also refreshed, you get C headlights facing outwards. The back bumper is lifted for a good approach angle and the overall profile is very curvy. Turn to the side, unlike the previous generation in which back doors used to open from the side window glass, it’s been removed in the 4th generation and conventional door handles are back.
Interior and Design
Stating that one design is better than the other will not make sense, because some might like the curvy and roundy language of the previous generation or some might prefer the serious and elegant language of the 4th generation.
TBH, this design looks good, it’s straightforward and just sounds very logical. The whole dashboard now comes with dual-tone combination, off-white and matte black and its plastic FYI. The AC controls are all-digital and they look very easy to use, no fuss. Compartments and storage spaces are good enough and sitting posture is not great, but not that bad for sure. Of course, you can’t expect a Golf like comfort from this dinky car. The seats are also made of fabric and not leather, all-over it’s plastic which is expected from a car of this budget. Coming back to dashboard, it also now got a floating display that runs Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Safety Specs
It’s a budget hatchback, so you can’t expect a Volvo like 5-start NCAP ratings from it. Jumping to the point, it only got 3-stars in the Euro NCAP test. It lacks the essential driver monitoring systems, doesn’t have a rear occupant detection system and only senses driver fatigue, not distraction. However, it’s not a fatal car, it’ll keep you alive if anything worse happens.
