Sharjah’s New Car Impound Fee Rules Explained
The Executive Council recently reviewed critical strategies to preserve the environment, particularly emphasizing reducing the use of single-use plastics. This aligns with Sharjah’s broader initiatives to promote eco-friendly habits and sustain environmental progress.
New Impound Fee
In a significant move, Sharjah announced a New Impound Fee policy for vehicles seized due to severe traffic violations. The updated fee structure applies to all vehicle types involved in reckless driving or negligent behavior that endangers public safety and property.
The updated fees aim to improve road safety and discourage risky driving behavior. For example, if a motorcycle is operated in prohibited zones, the owner must pay AED 20,000 to retrieve the vehicle after it has been impounded. Likewise, if a driver does not have a valid license, the cost of releasing the vehicle after impoundment will be AED 30,000.
