0 17

It’s not often that you see rain in the UAE, which is why motorists find it difficult to face such situations. A sudden downpour started on Friday and is expected to last until 7 January 2025. The Police have issued a warning regarding this situation and urge motorists to drive carefully and responsibly.

One Wrong Decision Away

Driving in the rain is not as easy as it sounds. You’re always one wrong decision away from injuring yourself and endangering the lives of other people on the road. That is why it is best to take precautionary measures for such situations.

A survey taken in America in January 2024 found that rain is responsible for 11% of crashes, 10% of injuries, and 8% of fatalities. Thus, 75% of all road accidents occur due to rain or wet roads. This is why it is essential to know all the safety tips beforehand.

Safety Tips

  • Check Your Tires

You must check the tread on your tires periodically. Bald tires are more likely to slip and cause an accident, while good tires with soft rubber are less prone to sliding and skidding.

  • Check Your Wiper Blades

Another significant reason for road accidents in shady weather is defective wiper blades. Wiper blades keep your windscreen clear of the rainwater so that you can see perfectly. Faulty wiper blades make it difficult to see forward, which can result in a fatal accident. Always buy good quality wiper blades and check them after installation to see if they work perfectly or not.

  • Drive Slowly

No need to think of yourself as Vin Diesel! Drive slowly and responsibly on wet roads because you are responsible not only for your life but also for the lives of other people on the road. Make sure you don’t make any sudden lane changes.

  • Use Hazard Lights

Hazard lights are there for a reason. Make sure to use them. Hazard lights make you more visible in fog or heavy rainfall. They also warn other drivers to steer clear of you and maintain a reasonable distance. Click here if you want to read a complete guide on how to drive in the rain.
